GIDLEY GOES GIDDY OVER TOURISM WEEK

12.00.00am GMT Tue 11th Mar 2008

Local MP Sandra Gidley today spoke of her delight in supporting the 2nd British Tourism Week, which runs from 10-18 March 2008, and encouraged people to enjoy the attractions of the local area.

Commenting, Sandra said:

"I'm proud that Hampshire, and Southampton in particular, is such a fantastic area for people to visit.

"Southampton is the greenest city in Southern England, thanks to its wonderful collection of parks. When combined with the terrific art galleries, museums, coastal cruises, and proximity to the New Forest, our area offers something for everyone.

"It's important to encourage more people to visit the area so that the shops and businesses of our local towns and villages will continue to thrive.

"The tourism industry is a valuable part of the economy and I'm proud to be visiting and supporting local businesses."
